Finally! My Own vWD Family!
Thank you Jessica for our wonderful chat in Denver! I have your pamphlet for this site and couldn’t wait to get online and continue to expand my vWD family!
The CSL Behring vWD session was the best session that I had attended. I am always amazed at how similar so many of our experiences are. I am excited to be on this site and will admit that this is the very first online support group that I have joined!
I have a tough week coming up with my Son Nickolas having his surgery on Monday the 24th... and only hope that he doesnt experience excessive post op bleeding.and that we are sent home either on Friday... which would be the earliest he would be released.
We received a 3rd diagnosis for Nick just this week at his pre-op appt with his Hematologist. We, of course, know that he has vWD Type2a, a platelet disorder... and now he has a Lupus Inhibitor. A glorified term that means he has a higher propensity to form blood clots in his veins! It is more of a thrombosis issue... what next? His Doc pulled 7 more lab tests... because he reacts so differently than other vWD males his age (17) with the same vWD diagnosis to his factor treatments, platelet transfusions, Amicar and even Stimate.
But, all in all... with his surgery coming up... he is in good spirits. I personally think he is happy about missing school next week. But alas, he was reminded that he wasn’t having brain surgery... so he will STILL have to keep his homework up to date.
I look forward to chatting and posting and can’t wait to look up all the information on this site!
